David Farmilo's Hoof-Line
was invented by master farrier, David Farmilo, to assist students in transposing complicated theoretical and anatomical knowledge into working knowledge. The Hoof-Line is a simple calibrated ruler which checks the balance of the hoof and takes the guess work out of trimming or shoeing. 8" (21cm) long.
An instructional CD comes with every Hoof-Line tool.

Ben manages Brunchilly Station, NT, and we’ve had the privilege of
meeting with him and his wife Vicki during Ben’s progress from ringer,
to head stockman, to manager, and the couples' progress from
boyfriend/girlfriend, to marriage.
Ben’s thoughtful nature and quiet, measured speech is
complemented with a
passion to aim for the best outcomes for the horses and cattle at
Brunchilly. He is a committed advocate for low stress stock handling and
in wanting what’s best for the horses, he is convinced about the
effectiveness of the Farmilo Hoof Line.“

“The first David Farmilo shoeing school we participated in was in March 2004 where we were introduced to David's Hoof Line tool. I found the school to be very interesting, and easily understood the basic principles that David was teaching - ABC Hoof Care which is Assessment, Balance and Correction. By using David’s method we were able to get everyone on the same page and use the ‘Hoof Line’ to correctively balance our horses’ hooves.
Straight away I could see a huge improvement in everyone’s shoeing and they were doing it
in half the amount of time it would normally take.
David came to Helen Springs for a further three years and said that he could see an improvement in the staff’s shoeing ability and soundness of the horses being shod.
We are still using the same method of shoeing and have found that our horses are sound and
ready for work each day.
The staff now have the tools and knowledge to perform shoeing with limited supervision.
I have purchased David’s ABC Hoof Care DVD and all new staff members are encouraged to
watch the DVD upon induction and also purchase their own Hoof Line tool."
