Meet Kent Saddlery

Left to right: John, Jess, Paul, Ben, Chad, Janelle, Lyle, Helen, Ena, Leah, Naima, Josh, Sonia, Jacob, Daniel, Jamie, Kim

Lyle - saddle maker and station traveller. See Lyle Kent's Story.

Helen - station traveller and business support.

Ben consistently and confidently crafts saddle after saddle! He's been working full time in the Saddlery for 8 years, and his experience on cattle stations and subsequent interest in educating horses is of great benefit for his saddle making skills. Ben is an effective and helpful communicator, and has received numerous accolades from satisfied clients, who have spoken with him on the phone.

Daniel has progressively moved into the area of saddle making, with an ability to craft products of excellence, and an eye for detail and design. This is evidenced in the saddles and other gear he produces, including the "one-off" orders, which often require patient persistence - one of Daniel's strengths.

Sonia is a valuable member of the office team. She is responsible for the saddles database and coordinating with saddle customers and our tree maker, Bob Wattus. She's also involved with many other projects, and cheerfully combines these with caring for son Jacob who is a typical, lively little boy.

Daniel and Sonia added a baby boy, Ethan, to their family in April 2010. Congratulations Daniel and Sonia!

Jamie is a valued and important member of the Kent Saddlery team and works quietly and methodically alongside Daniel to make a range of leather products including some saddle components.

Leah is our office manager and has the challenging task of juggling work and patiently mothering two little girls, Naima and Ena. Leah does a great job overseeing the office, catalogue and website and her expertise with computers is appreciated and valued.

As well a making a wide range of leather products, Josh works in a supervisory role in the workshop, overseeing and organising the production of all of our accessory products. He's a keen researcher and enthusiastically searches websites for the latest developments, products and materials for the saddlery.

Jessica completed a gap year working in the saddlery in 2009, and is studying Psychology at University in 2010.

John is Josh's dad and has had many years of banking and bookkeeping experience. He does a thorough job keeping the books up to date, as well as processing mail orders. John is quite often the person who deals with incoming calls, and he enjoys speaking with customers.

Kim, Sonia's sister, works in the saddlery on a part time basis. She's a willing and positive helper, child carer and postage person who is usually available to come and help out when we become pushed with orders.

Josh and Leah's girls, Naima and Ena.

Ben and Janelle's son, Chad.
