About Kent Saddlery
Kent Saddlery is the family business of Lyle and Helen Kent. It is an Australian saddlery commited to supplying quality goods and service at a price that represents genuine value for money.
We supply custom made saddles and quality leather gear hand-crafted in our workshop at Stanthorpe in Queensland. Our leather products are available through our Online Store along with a range of other items for the horse and rider.
We regularly travel to the cattle stations of northern and western Australia, and receive continual input and feedback from people who use saddles every day, and for whom it is very important to have rugged, low maintenance saddles that suit the horse and rider.
Kent Saddlery was established in 1988, when we decided to make a big change from vegetable farming to saddlery. Lyle had a keen interest in leather work and regularly repaired saddles and other leather gear. He then began to develop a style of fender stock saddle which proved to be rugged, low maintenance, and comfortable for the rider as well as good on the horses backs.
2007 marked our 17th year of travelling, while 2008 is our 20th anniversary. Read more about our history.
The decision made 20 years ago has also impacted our children. At the time of writing, all our family are involved with the saddlery in varying ways, and while maintaining a family business presents everyone with unique challenges, on the whole, it’s great. Meet the family.
We are keenly aware, both through our travelling, and from contacts made by phone, fax and email
to our home base, of a significant connectedness between people from all over the place. We feel privileged to be part of it, for we believe that businesses are built on relationships.
